Entry information
ARTWORK ACCEPTANCE (ACCESSIONING)
- Artwork must be dry
- Artwork must be framed.
- Artwork must be ready to hang with d-rings and wire (do not use triangle hangers or small d-rings).
- Labels must be attached to the artwork with Artwork name, Artist name and Price. Attach to back or underside of artwork.
- Bring Exhibition Label with QR Code with your artwork (label will have been emailed with artwork approval)
- Artwork must be of appropriate size (see Preparing your artwork section)
- All packaging must be taken away by the Artist
- All artists and attendees must comply with current NSW Health regulations
Artworks will be accepted from Artists across New South Wales and the rest of Australia. Selected Finalist artworks will be listed on the Hunters Hill Art Exhibition website. Emails will be sent to artists confirming delivery details.
Payment & artwork entry
- $38.50 (inclusive of GST) Entry fee per artwork (any dimension up to 119cm).
- $55 (inclusive of GST) Entry fee per Large artwork (any dimension over 120cm and up to 175cm x 140cm)
CREDIT CARD PAYMENTS ONLY
Entry is via the online Artists Portal only. No in person payments can be accepted.
- Payment method needs to be completed in the portal before artwork may be uploaded
- Each artwork will be judged in all Prizes and Awards categories for which it is eligible.
- Entry fees are non-refundable.
- A separate entry portal must be completed for each artist.
- Maximum 5 entries per artist.
- Details and photo must be provided for each artwork
- All entries must be the original work of the artist and completed within the last 12 months (from October 2023)
- AI Generated or 3D printed artwork will not be accepted
Financial information
Sales:
All entries must be for sale and all G.S.T. registered artists should include G.S.T. in the total selling price of their artwork.
Commission:
A 35% fee will be charged by Hunter’s Hill Council on all sales.
Sales payments will only be made to Artists once all artwork sales have been reconciled and every Artist has provided banking details for the EFT payments to be made.
You must complete the GST and / or Withholding tax sections of the Banking form.
Insurance
This is the responsibility of the artist. Council accepts no responsibility for loss, theft or damage.
Artwork delivery and collection
IN PERSON DEVERY AND COLLECTION:
- Personally deliver and collect artwork to/from Hunters Hill Town Hall, 22 Alexandra St, Hunters Hill – unless you are informed of an alternative address. All Artwork must be delivered/collected on dates specified in the Important Dates section. All necessary delivery and collection arrangements to be made and paid for by the Artist for the dates specified.
- Exhibited Artwork cannot be collected until after the Exhibition has closed.
- Please follow all directions. Abuse of staff and volunteers will not be tolerated.
BRING THE LABEL THAT WAS IN YOUR APPROVAL EMAIL as this will be scanned by Accessioning team.
Artwork will only be held for two weeks from the final collection day (9/11/2024) before being disposed of. Please make sure that you arrange for your artwork to be collected in a timely manner.
Artwork details
Artists may submit up to 5 individual works. Details must be completed and a photograph uploaded to the Artists’ Portal for each artwork.
Before completing the measurements field, please check the “Preparing Your Artwork” list below to ensure you are complying with entry size and weight restrictions.
Please supply the measurements of the artwork as cm(H) x cm(W) x cm(D).
Upload a hi-resolution photograph of your artwork. This photograph will be used for selection and judging. It will also be reproduced in the Catalogue and Online should your artwork be selected as a finalist. Only .jpg, png. or .TIFF will be accepted.
Submit only one photograph per artwork.
PREPARING YOUR ARTWORK
- All paintings and sculptures must be dry.
- All artwork (excluding sculptures) must be framed or professionally presented. They must be ready for display with wire and D-ring hanging devices (no triangular hangers or small D-rings).
- There should be no screw eyes or projections on the artwork that could cause damage. Cover any wires (especially wire twists) with tape.
- Frames or hanging devices requiring repair work will be rejected.
- Artwork (excluding frame) to be no larger than 175cm x 140cm. Framed area of all artworks is not to exceed 180cm by 150cm
- Triptych & diptych artworks must be attached together as if one artwork – otherwise they will be treated as separate entries. The whole artwork including frame must not exceed 180cm by 150cm
- Hanging Art works may not exceed – 15kg
- Sculptures – up to 50kg (Sculpture over 20kg may need to be positioned by the Artist prior to Opening.)
LABEL THE BACK OF EACH ARTWORK
Label clearly on the back of each art work: the Artist’s name, Title of artwork and the price (including GST) that the artwork will be sold for.
- These details must be the same as on the entry form.
COPYRIGHT
- Hunter’s Hill Council reserves the right to photograph works exhibited in the Hunters Hill Art Exhibition for the purpose of documentation and promotion as well as for use in an online gallery.
- Images of selected artworks may be used to promote this or future Hunters Hill Art Exhibitions including as a Hero Image for future exhibitions.
- All necessary acknowledgements of authorship will be duly made.
- It is very important that you do not include elements in your artwork for which you do not hold Copyright.
Artwork prizes
Small Works Prize:
Only artworks smaller than A4 will be eligible for the Small Works Prize
Regional Art Prize:
Only artists residing in the Municipality of Hunters Hill, City of Ryde, City of Canada Bay or the Municipality of Lane Cove will be eligible for the Regional Art Prize.
Nora Heysen Prize:
Only female artists residing in the Municipality of Hunters Hill (postcode 2110 or 2111) will be eligible for the Nora Heysen Prize.
Refusal of entry
Hunter’s Hill Council reserves the right to refuse any entry.
In the event of a dispute regarding the interpretation of the Conditions of Entry, the decision of Hunter’s Hill Council shall be final.
Declaration
By submitting your artwork for Hunters Hill Art Exhibition 2024 you agree that:
- The artwork submitted by you is an original artwork, created by you within the last 12 months (from October 2023).
- You have read and agreed to the conditions of entry for Hunters Hill Art Exhibition 2024 and that all information provided in your Artist Profile and Artwork Entry is true and correct.
- You have read and noted all important dates such as notifications, various drop off and collection dates and times.
