Driver Fatigue
Driver fatigue is one of the top three contributors to the NSW road toll. However, unlike drink driving, there are no laws regulating driver fatigue. Fatigue-related crashes can happen on any trip no matter how long or short, or what time of the day.
Fatigue symptoms to look out for:
- Yawning
- Poor concentration
- Restlessness
- Drowsiness
- Tired eyes
- Slow reactions
- Over-steering
How to reduce driver fatigue
- Get 7-8 hours sleep
- Plan your trip
- Take a break every two hours
- Share the driving
- If you are using medications, check with your doctor before driving
- Delay your trip if you feel tired
- Stop and enjoy a coffee at one of Hunters Hill’s many cafes
