Citizen of the Year
Each year, Council celebrates the achievements and contributions of outstanding members and groups in our community through the Hunters Hill Citizen of the Year Awards.
The Awards aim to showcase individuals and groups who demonstrate extraordinary service every day within our community and who make a significant difference to our municipality.
Nominations are now closed.
Categories
Nominations are being called for in five categories:
Citizen of the Year
Any resident aged 25 years or over as of 26 January 2025, who has made a significant contribution to the wider community in a voluntary or paid capacity.
Must be a resident or affiliated with an association or community group within the Hunters Hill local government area.
Young Citizen of the Year
Any young person aged 12 to 24 years old as of 26 January 2025, who has made a significant contribution to the wider community or their school community in a voluntary capacity.
Must be a resident or affiliated with an association or community group within the Hunters Hill local government area.
Outstanding Sporting Achievement
Any sports person or team who has achieved outstanding results in their chosen sport, or who has significantly contributed to the success of their team.
Must be a resident or affiliated with an association or community group within the Hunters Hill local government area.
Community Excellence
Any community group that has made a significant contribution to the well-being of Hunters Hill residents.
Must be a resident or affiliated with an association or community group within the Hunters Hill local government area.
Environmental Excellence
Any individual, organisation or community group that has demonstrated outstanding efforts in any of the following areas; sustainability, preserving the environment, bushcare or any activity that reduces litter and improves recycling habits.
Must be a resident or affiliated with an association or community group within the Hunters Hill local government area.
Judging
The panel for the Hunters Hill Citizen of the Year Awards consists of the Mayor, Deputy Mayor, two additional Councillors (via nomination) and the previous Citizen of the Year.
The panel will judge the nominations and winners will be presented with their awards on Australia Day 2025.
