Councillor Marc Lane was elected to council in 2024 having previously served as a committee member on the Movement and Transport Committee. He has over fifteen years of experience in the built environment and is qualified in architecture, urban design and law. He has prepared strategies and policies and worked on projects in London, Sydney, the Gold Coast and Dubai.
Working for the Government Architect NSW, Marc led the Design and Place SEPP, including a review of the Apartment Design Guide and a proposed Urban Design Guide. Prior to this he developed the NSW Movement and Place Framework working closely with Transport for NSW and other agencies - the guidance including the key tools he authored, the Practitioner's Guide to Movement and Place and Built Environment Indicators, are now adopted whole-of-government policy.
While working in London he worked on major roadspace reallocation in Old St, Shoreditch Triangle, Wandsworth Town Centre and Oxford Street, as well as the extension of the overground to Barking Riverside, and underground to Old Kent Road. He helped draft A City for All Londoners (2016), the precursor to the current Mayor's Transport Strategy.
