Councillor Williams is a passionate local Independent Hunter’s Hill Councillor. He believes that Councils play a fundamental role within local communities. His goals include independent and transparent decision-making; timely, efficient, responsive service delivery; financial sustainability; meaningful and inclusive community consultation; and protection of our environment, the built and natural heritage, streetscape and bushland.
Ross has had a distinguished professional career including extensive senior level experience in State Government agencies and the private sector. He is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Director and a Certified Practising Program Director.
Cr Williams was first elected to Hunter’s Hill Council in 1987 as an Alderman. Ross has served 20 years on council and terms as Mayor (5 plus years) from 1989–93 and 2020–21 and as Deputy Mayor from 1987–89 and 2017–18. Cr Williams holds the title of ‘Emeritus Mayor’ for his service as Mayor.
Cr Williams has served on many committees and is currently a member of Arts Advisory Committee, Sustainability Advisory Committee and the Hunters Hill Le Vésinet Friendship Committee. He is an avid advocate for gardens, tree canopy, and bushland environments, the built and natural heritage, and sustainability. His strong community focus supports social inclusion and community connections.
Ross is also the Chair of the Hunters Hill Ryde Lane Cove Parramatta Bushfire Management Committee and represents Local Government NSW on the Sydney Water’s Community Customer Reference Group.
Ross as an Independent is proudly not beholden to any political party and is able to fearlessly represent the needs of our local community and businesses.
