Have your say - Joubert St Traffic Changes
Published on 22 May 2024
Transport for NSW (TfNSW) are proposing to make some traffic changes at the intersection of Gladesville Road and Joubert St, Hunters Hill.
The proposal will remove the ability for vehicles to turn right out of Joubert Street (south) or head straight onto Gladesville Road. Vehicles seeking to travel north on Burns Bay Road or east on Church Street will need to take an alternate route via Howard Place or De Milhau Road which may add 4 minutes to travel time. Works will include:
- Installation of two new marked pedestrian crossings at both the Burns Bay Road exit ramp and neighbouring Joubert Street (north), which are currently unmarked.
- Extending the existing median strip on Gladesville Road, removing the ability for northbound vehicles to continue through the intersection or turn right onto Gladesville Road from Joubert Street (south).
Transport for NSW have notified affected residents and will be accepting submissions until Wednesday 5 June.
This is a TfNSW proposal and Council is encouraging residents to have their say by filling out the survey on TfNSW's website - https://yoursay.transport.nsw.gov.au/joubert-st-hunters-hill.
Hunter's Hill Council Mayor Zac Miles said it was important for residents and anyone who uses this thoroughfare to review the plans and have their opinion heard.
"I acknowledge it's important that we address the safety and congestion concerns in this area, but we need to make sure the works that are being proposed don't create additional traffic issues," he said.
