The newly elected Hunter’s Hill Council has officially taken office.

Mayor Zac Miles and six councillors took an oath or affirmation on Monday tonight (14 October 2024) at the commencement of the first Council meeting for this term.

The taking of the oath or affirmation is a requirement of the Local Government Act.

The community elected the Mayor and Councillors in the local government elections held on Saturday 14 September.

Cr Miles previously served as Mayor in the last term of Council, and as a Councillor in the two terms prior.

He said he was incredibly humbled to be re-elected as Mayor alongside a group of dedicated Councillors.

"The opportunity to serve our municipality once again is a great responsibility which I know all councillors will enjoy over the coming four year term," he said.

"I’m proud of what we have accomplished so far but there’s still much more work to be done. Some of our first orders of business will include opening the new Bedlam Bay swim site, delivering a state-of-the-art multi-purpose facility at Gladesville Reserve and introducing AFL games at Buffalo Creek."

The six councillors joining Cr Miles to make up the new Hunter’s Hill Council are:

North Ward

  • Cr Carla Kassab
  • Cr Carol Tannous-Sleiman
  • Cr Ross Williams

South Ward

  • Cr Marc Lane
  • Cr Julia Prieston
  • Cr Tatyana Virgara

Cr Prieston will serve as Deputy Mayor for a two-year term after being elected in a vote at last night's Council meeting.
