Council has been informed that Transport for NSW (TFNSW) will be widening the footpath on the corner of Reiby Road and Church Street, Hunters Hill, by about two metres to provide a safer road environment for pedestrians.

TFNSW have advised that temporary traffic changes will be in place while works are underway, including footpath closure, detour during construction, a work zone speed of 4km/h, traffic controllers and signage and noise from machinery and equipment while cutting into the road.

Work is expected to take up to five night shifts between Tuesday 1 October and Friday 18 October 2024, between 10pm to 5am, weather and site conditions permitting.

The proposal is designed to improve pedestrian safety especially for large groups of school students currently crossing on the overpass during peak times.
